Virtual Advocacy Day, COVID Relief, and Abortion Access: Your civic action to-do list for 7-27-20
3. Women's health, freedoms, and civil rights are at risk. Our futures are in the hands of members of Congress - so we have to speak out!
In a nutshell: JWI will be hosting a Virtual Advocacy Day TOMORROW to give our community the chance to meet with their senators' offices. We plan to discuss reproductive freedom, funding for domestic and sexual violence survivors, and racial justice.
Take action: TODAY is the last day to register, so sign up here! Zoom meetings are scheduled midday in each time zone; each should last 30 minutes.
2. COVID 19 has upended our lives and impacted our safety, health, and financial security.
In a nutshell: The federal government must increase funding for domestic violence and sexual assault programs, provide aid for testing and tracing, and continue to provide robust unemployment insurance benefits to millions of Americans.
Take action: Call your senators and representative and tell them to support these three priorities in a phase 4 relief bill!
1. Every woman deserves to have access to safe abortion care, no matter where she lives.
In a nutshell: Currently no foreign assistance funds can be used to provide abortion care, putting women’s lives in danger. The Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act removes this restriction and provides funding for comprehensive reproductive health care services to women around the world.
Take action: This bill will be introduced on Wednesday. Call your representative and tell them to be an original co-sponsor!
