What is Unboxed?
Unboxed is a series of card sets to spark deep, meaningful conversations about family, love, and relationships. There are 52 cards in each deck, each providing an opportunity to spark thoughtful discussion around your views on relationships, your authentic identity, your needs in relationships – and how to meet them.
The cards are inspired by Jewish text and traditions. The cards were created by JWI’s Clergy Task Force on Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community, and funded by Lippman Kanfer Foundation for Living Torah and the Henry D. Kahn and Laura Primakoff Charitable Fund. We hope these cards will not only inspire you to make your own relationships even better, but to share your knowledge for what healthy relationships can look like. This is a key part of how JWI envisions ending gender-based violence in the future.
There are currently two editions:
Gratitude: Filled with inspiring prompts around gratitude from a Jewish lens, for all ages.
Wisdom: Sparks conversation about Jewish wisdom around aging, for adults ages 50+.
(Sold out: Shabbat: Infuses Shabbat tradition and wisdom into conversations around healthy relationships.)
How do I use the Unboxed Cards?
Unboxed is meant to strengthen all kinds of relationships – that means they can be played by anyone, with anyone.
They are the perfect accessory for any dinner party, gathering with friends or family, date night with your partner, or Jewish lifecycle event.
We invite you to get creative! These cards can elevate any gathering.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
• Give them as a gift to a B’nai Mitzvah or a wedding couple
• Have them on the table at Shabbat and other Jewish holiday dinners
• Incorporate them into your morning Torah study group
• Bring them to adult education classes or family programs
• Distribute them at happy hours and onegs
• Use them as an icebreaker at a dinner party
• Introduce them to your book club at next month's discussion
• Share them on screen to get the conversation flowing on a Zoom hang-out
• Give them as a gift at Jewish lifecycle events
