May her memory be for a blessing — and a revolution.
Jewish Women International joins the nation in mourning the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, z”l.
For generations to come, as she has for generations before, Ruth Bader Ginsburg stands as a role model for all — “repairing the tears in our society” and fiercely fighting for gender equality.
As a Jewish woman, the first to serve on the Supreme Court, we hold her even closer, proud of the legacy she paved for us, for our daughters, and our granddaughters.
A feminist icon, Justice Ginsberg spent her career building the legal framework to challenge gender discrimination and achieved indelible change for women before she was even elevated to the Court.
From the wisdom of her opinions to the power of her dissents, Ginsburg was our voice on the highest Court in the land, the wall that protected our reproductive rights, voting rights, and so much more.
We knew her indefatigable strength, but even the strongest among us must, at some point, set down the weight. Now it is time for others to bear the burden and take up her fight.
Our hard-won rights are under threat. In her name, in her honor, we pledge to work each and every day to lift the weight of justice and to continue the fight for equality. And, we will do everything we can to ensure that her seat is not filled with a judge who would overturn her life’s work.
May her memory be for a blessing — and a revolution. And may her family and all who loved her find peace in knowing her voice will endure.
