3. In the United States nearly 190,000 people have died from COVID-19 and more than 13 million people are still unemployed.
In a nutshell: Congress must pass a coronavirus relief package that includes economic supports for individuals and families, money for local health departments, and funding for the unique needs of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.
Take action: On Wednesday join JWI and our coalition partners for a day of action to demand #COVIDRelief!
2. Pregnant women, particularly women of color and immigrant women, are still being fired for being pregnant.
In a nutshell: The bipartisan Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), a bill that ends pregnancy discrimination and protects women’s economic security, is coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives next week.
Take action: Call your U.S. Representative this week to ensure they plan to vote “aye”!
1. Ensuring all workers have the ability to protect their health and care for their loved ones is more important than ever.
In a nutshell: Gaps in the law have left tens of millions of workers without guaranteed emergency paid sick days and paid leave.
Take action: Join a Twitter storm on Wednesday from 1-2pm ET to highlight the importance of passing a relief bill!
