In a nutshell: On Friday when Rayshard Brooks was shot twice in the back by police, his name was added to a long list of Black men and women murdered by those sworn to protect us all. We need to hold law enforcement accountable for relentless misconduct, brutality, and bias.

2. While the Supreme Court ruled today that it is illegal to fire an employee based on sexual orientation or gender identity, systemic discrimination is far from over.
In a nutshell: Last week, the Trump Administration rolled back protections against discrimination in healthcare and put the well-being of transgender individuals, women, and people with limited English proficiency in jeopardy. The Administration’s final rule allows hospitals, doctors, and insurance companies to refuse services to patients based on their gender identity or abortion history, and does not require them to provide translation services.

1. For millions of women in this country, abortion access is under siege.
In a nutshell: While we thought that Roe v. Wade solidified a woman’s right to bodily autonomy in 1973, dozens of states have since passed hundreds of TRAP laws designed to close down abortion clinics and reduce access to those that remain.
