2. Robust reforms and police accountability are necessary to topple the systemic racism that endures in our nation.

In a nutshell: Today House and Senate Democrats introduced a police reform bill that makes sweeping changes – banning chokeholds, limiting “qualified immunity” for police officers, and creating a national misconduct registry.

Take action: Urge your senators and representative to support the Justice in Policing Act of 2020, and call your mayor, chief of police, and county executive to tell them to implement the bill’s reforms immediately!

1. COVID-19 is still presenting unprecedented challenges to sexual assault survivors' safety and well-being.

In a nutshell: None of the stimulus packages passed by Congress have directly addressed the needs of sexual assault programs or communities of color.

Take action: Email your senators and urge them to support $100 million in additional funding for the Sexual Assault Services Programs and $40 million for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Programs to address to disproportionate impact on racial and ethnic minority communities.
