321ACTION: Attend a gun violence prevention summit, learn about women in Iran, and protect students from gender-based violence
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Participate in the 8th Annual GVP Summit
Gun violence is a public health emergency. So far this year, more than 41,000 people have died by gun violence in the United States.
Register today to join advocates, survivors, policymakers, religious leaders, students, stakeholders from other social justice movements, and change-makers this Tuesday and Wednesday, at the Center for American Progress’s 8th Annual Gun Violence Prevention Summit. Some of the largest challenges and opportunities facing the movement will be discussed.
The Summit is free. Don't miss Dorian Karp, JWI’s director of policy and advocacy, Tuesday December 6th from 2:00-3:00 pm ET who will be part of the panel discussing, “Growing the Coalition and Connecting the Movements.”

2. Learn more about the Iran protests for women's rights
Gender-based violence is the most prevalent form of violence globally.
Tonight at 8pm ET, join JWI and JIMENA for a virtual panel discussion unpacking the recent protests and the fight against the dangerous theocratic government of Iran.
And, mark your calendar for the International 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence campaign (Nov. 25 – Dec. 10), when we will take action to support the women in Iran who are risking their lives to stand up for their human rights.

3. Students deserve to be safe from gender-based violence in school
Students deserve to feel safe in their schools and to know that they are protected from gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence. Unfortunately, we know for many students this isn’t the case.
Last week, the Students Access to Freedom and Educational Rights (SAFER) Act was introduced in Congress to strengthen Title IX protections and mandate training requirements for Title IX coordinators and school staff to foster safer learning environments for all students.
We need your help to get this comprehensive bill closer to passing. Show your support for the SAFER Act by signing a petition urging your Congressional representatives to support this crucial bill.
