321ACTION: Child poverty, gender-based violence, pregnant workers
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Help end child poverty in the U.S.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, Congress acted to expand the Child Tax Credit, which lifted 5.3 million people (~3 million children) out of poverty and helped families meet their basic needs. However, this expansion expired last year. As inflation rises, child poverty has now dramatically increased and families are struggling to make ends meet.

2. Learn about our country's strategy to prevent & respond to gender-based violence
Human rights and human dignity are tied to gender equality. To combat gender-based violence globally, government entities and civil society must develop coordinated strategies.
As we celebrate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, join the U.S. Department of State’s Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, in coordination with the White House Gender Policy Council and USAID’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Hub, for the official launch of the 2022 U.S. Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Globally. This event was livestreamed this morning, December 12th at 9:00 a.m. ET and you can watch the recording here.
3. Demand protections for pregnant workers!
No woman should be forced to choose between her health and her family’s economic security, but without a federal law protecting moms-to-be from pregnancy discrimination at work, many women have to make that heart wrenching decision.
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) is commonsense legislation that mandates employers make reasonable accommodations when workers have a medical need for them because of pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions. Urge your senators to pass this critical civil rights bill.
