321ACTION: Stand against gun violence, attend a listening session, and support women in Iran

Ready to make a difference?

Here are three ways to get started:

1. We must do more to curb gun violence

Yesterday, on Trans Day of Remembrance, we were meant to honor the transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people who we have lost – instead, our nation once again mourns the lives lost from a mass shooting at an LGBTQ+ nightclub.

While we don’t know all of the details, we do know that over the course of less than 10 minutes 5 people were killed and another 19 were seriously injured. The deadly impact of firearms is clear.

Every member of the LGBTQ community deserves to be able to live their full authentic selves.  Any attempt to deny this community full autonomy should be met with disdain and strong opposition. We stand against attacks (both physical and ideological) that are perpetrated against the LGBTQ community and ask the House to pass the Respect for Marriage Act and the Senate to pass the Assault Weapons Ban. Every community deserves to feel safe.

Tell your senators to support an assault weapons ban

2. Learn about a new program for women seeking a future in public office

More women are running for (and winning) political office than ever before, just look at the 12 women who will be Governors in 2023!

JWI, along with project advisors, are developing a new initiative (The Pipeline) to support and uplift Jewish women interested in one day holding public office.

If you have begun to consider a possible future in elected office - at any level of government, join us for a listening session next Monday (11/28) from 7:00-8:00pm ET so we can hear from you as we build out this new concept.

Jon us for a listening session to help inform "The Pipeline"

3. Unpack the protests in Iran

Gender-based violence is the most prevalent form of violence globally.

As we approach the International 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence (Nov. 25 – Dec. 10), we must take action to support the women in Iran who are risking their lives to stand up for their human rights. On December 5th at 8pm ET, join JWI and JIMENA for a virtual panel discussion where Rabbi Tarlan Rabizadeh, Dr. Houman Sarshar, Sharona Nazarian-Beverly, and Goldie Davoudgoleh will unpack the recent protests and the fight against the dangerous theocratic government of Iran.
