321ACTION: Abortion access, gun violence prevention, and women united on policy
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Protect Access to Abortion
Access to reproductive healthcare and abortion is under attack – in at least 12 states abortions are almost completely banned.
Throughout the week, participate in NCJW's Abortion Access Week of Action on social media and on Wednesday, Sept. 14, join the national Jewish Community Phone Bank at 4:45 pm ET to help protect abortion access by talking to voters in Kentucky who will cast their ballot in November on a state constitutional amendment that could lead to a total ban on abortion. You don't need to live in Kentucky to participate!

2. Learn About the Religious Teachings that Exalt Firearms & Hear from a Survivor of a Mass Shooting
So far this year, over 31,119 people have died, and an additional 27,837 people have been injured in this country by gun violence. And these numbers don’t include the countless families and communities directly impacted by this violence or the insurmountable impact this violence has on our collective consciousness.
This month there are two opportunities to dive deeply into the ways firearms impact our lives.
Thursday, Sept. 15th at 2pm ET, join Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence (JWI is a co-chair) and Religions for Peace for a webinar “Contemporary ‘Worship’ of Firearms: Challenging Current Interpretations of the 2nd Amendment” on the ways Judeo-Christian teachings are used to exalt firearms.
Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 7:30pm ET, join JWI's Jewish Gun Violence Prevention Roundtable for "A New Year: Resilience in the Face of Gun Violence" to hear from Ivy Schamis, a former teacher and survivor of the mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, about her experience and her perspective on facing each new day.

3. Understand Womens' Priorities
Women across all racial, ethnic, political party, and socio-economic statuses are united in their support for healthcare, economic, and anti-violence policy solutions. New research by the YWCA shows that a majority of women are concerned about the ability to access abortion where they live, 70% want action to ensure access to high quality and affordable child care, 73% support paid family and medical leave, and 82% want Congressional action to reduce gun violence.
Join our colleagues at YWCA for a virtual briefing on the YWomen Vote 2022 report on Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 12 – 1:30 pm ET.
What's happening at JWI?
