3. Violence against women is not a partisan issue, however in the Senate partisanship is stalling the passage of the Violence Against Women Act.
In a nutshell: S. 2843, the VAWA bill introduced by Sen. Feinstein, is the bipartisan bill that passed the House of Representatives with support from 33 Republicans. It is the bill survivors have been asking for, and the bill that Sen. Ernst and the rest of colleagues should support.

2. Yesterday there were twenty-three fatal shootings across our country, but the only shooting that made national headlines was a non-fatal shooting near New Orleans’ French Quarter in which 11 people were wounded.
In a nutshell: This week hundreds of advocates and activists will come together at a two day conference to chart a path forward and determine effective strategies for reducing gun violence across our country.
Take Action: Join members of your community this week and attend a vigil to honor the victims of gun violence.

In a nutshell: Representative Schakowsky re-introduced the International Violence Against Women Act last week as a critical step towards combatting violence against women. The bill creates a comprehensive strategy to combat violence against women and girls and increases humanitarian funding.
