Honoring Black History Month: Your civic action to-do list for 2-22-21
On March 23rd you can join other grasstop activists and make a difference in the lives of women and girls across the country. Sign up for JWI's Virtual Advocacy Day to influence how your senators vote on important issues.
3. As we enter the final week of Black History Month, we should reflect on the important accomplishments and contributions of Black individuals and movements.
In a nutshell: As Jews, we must take this opportunity not only to better understand the ways the Black and Jewish experience intersect, but also to use that knowledge to create communities that acknowledge, accept, and support the beautiful diversity of the Jewish people.
Take action: Do your own research to learn about ways you can support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in your community.
2. This month JWI is providing you with important resources for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM).
In a nutshell: One in three teens is a victim of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a dating partner, and 43% of college women report violent or abusive dating behaviors.
Take action: You can change these statistics! Use JWI’s workshop, “Dating Abuse: Tools for Talking to Teens,” to teach your community how to have realistic and successful conversations with teens about healthy relationships.
1. Everyone deserves to live free from discrimination, no matter who they are or who they love.
In a nutshell: The Equality Act, which would provide permanent protections for LGBTQ people, was just introduced in Congress.
Take action: Use our quick automated system to email your representative to ask that they co-sponsor the bill.
Join JWI’s community of grasstop activists for ongoing opportunities to learn, engage, and make a difference through our Vote-and... campaign!
