Here's what JWI is doing to support our community through the COVID-19 crisis:

...and here's what you can do this week to keep the momentum going:

3. Today, as we honor the men and women who have died to protect our country and the millions of essential workers who are risking their lives to keep us fed, safe, and healthy, we look toward a hopeful but uncertain future.

In a nutshell: At JWI we are re-envisioning how to educate our members and utilize our grassroots to advocate for policies that protect women’s safety, security, and self-determination.

Take action: Click here to take a survey to help us understand what you want to learn more about and how we can engage you further in advocating for these important issues!

2. Intimate partner violence is on the rise all over the world.

In a nutshell: Many jurisdictions in the U.S. have recorded increased police, the UK has seen domestic violence murders more than double, and Israel has seen a 20% increase in domestic violence incidents.

Take action: We need to follow the lead of other countries in elevating and prioritizing this issue. Post about it on your social media and send your senators an email to ensure funding for domestic violence programs.

1. COVID-19 has exposed systemic challenges to accessing reproductive healthcare — not to mention anti-choice political machinations.

In a nutshell: Elected officials around the country have exploited the pandemic to ramp up restrictions on abortion access and coverage while the crisis has exacerbated economic and geographic barriers to reproductive care, especially among women of color, low income women, young women, and transgender and non-binary individuals.

Take action: Register for our webinar tomorrow (5/26) to learn more about the barriers to accessing reproductive health services from the authors of Obstacle Course: The Everyday Struggle to Get an Abortion in America, David S. Cohen and Carole Joffe.
