321ACTION: Gun Violence Survivor's Week, #TDVAM, the PUMP Act
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Amplify the voices of survivors of gun violence
This week marks the 5th annual National Gun Violence Survivors Week – a week when people from all walks of life come together to share and amplify the stories and voices of survivors who live with the impact of gun violence each and every day.
Use the next few days to support the lived experiences of survivors by listening to and sharing a survivor’s story. If you identify as a survivor, use the digital storytelling site, Moments that Survive, to submit your personal story in your own words.
Read and share survivors' stories
2. Observe Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM)
Dating violence is more common than you may think, 1 in 3 teens is a victim of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a dating partner.
JWI's work to address teen dating violence is being featured by the U.S. Department of Justice in a virtual program observing Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month on Feb. 14 at 11am ET. Join us as our Chief Program Officer, Deborah Rosenbloom, speaks about JWI's work on college campuses and presents JWI's film illustrating the escalation of teen dating violence.
Watch the event live on Feb. 14 at 11am ET
3. Learn more about new protections for nursing mothers
The Providing Urgent Maternal Protections (PUMP) for Nursing Mothers Act or "PUMP Act" a bill that extends federal protections for time and space to pump at work to millions more workers, was signed into law on December 29, 2022.
In celebration of this achievement, join a call tomorrow (2/7) at 2pm ET to hear the remarkable story of the PUMP Act’s passage and learn more about the protections in the bill. If you can’t join, you can learn more about the protections, coverage, and enforcement here.
