U.S. Representative Elaine Luria (VA)
U.S. Rep. Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District. Prior to her election in 2018, Rep. Luria served two decades in the Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander. Rep. Luria served at sea on six ships as a nuclear-trained Surface Warfare Officer, deployed to the Middle East and Western Pacific, and culminated her Navy career by commanding a combat-ready unit of 400 sailors. A member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Rep. Luria was one of the first women in the Navy’s nuclear power program and among the first women to serve the entirety of her career in combatant ships. She leads the House Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, and is Vice Chair of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces. Of all members in the House Democratic Caucus, she served the longest on active duty, having completed 20 years of active military service with the U.S. Navy. Rep. Luriagraduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and received a master’s in engineering management from Old Dominion University
Arizona State Representative Alma Hernandez
Representative Alma Hernandez is a Hispanic, Jewish Tucson, Arizona native. She became the youngest member of the Arizona House of Representatives at the age of 25. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in public health at the University of Arizona. Recently she had a bill passed making it mandatory to teach Arizona children about the Holocaust and other genocides. Representative Hernandez serves on the Health and Human Services Committee and the Federal Relations Committee at the Arizona House of Representatives. She recently received several awards as a freshman legislator for her work on healthcare policy including The Walk the Talk award from the Arizona Medical Association, the Realtor Party Champion Award from the AZ Association of Realtors, the Tech Ten Legislator Award from the AZ Technology Council, and the Women’s Health Champion Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Florida State Senator Annette Taddeo
Senator Taddeo’s people-first advocacy is rooted in her passion for service and humble beginnings. She began her journey as a small business owner when she started LanguageSpeak, a translation company which now provides services in more than 240 languages and has been named one the of the Top 100 Small Business. In 2017, she made history when she flipped Senate District 40 from red to blue and became the first Latina Democrat to serve in the Florida Senate. Annette is a champion for the community and continues to work tirelessly listening to the needs, passions, and frustrations of her constituents.
