National Alliance Webinar: Supporting LGBTQ Survivors

Webinar May 26, 2021

Supporting LGBTQ Survivors

In addition to the many structural and systemic barriers that impede LGBTQ survivors' healing and safety, many LGBTQ survivors face challenges when accessing supportive services. Whether survivors are met with an outright denial of services or unwelcoming and uninformed environments, there is a pervasive history of support services being inaccessible to survivors. This is why it's so critical that domestic violence and sexual assault advocates have an in depth knowledge on issues facing the community and strong skill sets in working with LGBTQ survivors.

This webinar will go over an understanding of core concepts of sexual orientation and gender identity, barriers LGBTQ survivors face, identity abuse, as well as helpful strategies for advocates to utilize when working with LGBTQIAP survivors.

Free for members / $25 for non-members

All registrants will receive a recording of this webinar offering. Closed captions will be provided during the webinar. A transcript will be sent to all registrants afterwards.
