2. Public Charge
No one should be penalized for using safety-net programs that are specifically created to help meet basic needs. But cruelly, the Administration is trying to make it more difficult for legal immigrants to become citizens if they use the ‘safety-net’ programs for food, housing, and healthcare. Read this advisory and register for a webinar this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. EST to learn about the devastating impacts of this proposed regulation, and make sure to submit your comment before December 10th!
1. Support the Equality Act
Every American has a right to fair treatment under the law, but the Administration is planning to eradicate the civil rights protections for 1.4 million Americans. The Department of Health and Human Services is moving forward with an effort to redefine sex as a biological condition determined at birth or by genetic composition, a drastic move that will rollback protections and put transgender people in danger. One way to stop the Administration is for Congress to pass the Equality Act, a bill that would enshrine civil rights protections for transgender people in federal law. Call your member of Congress and tell them to support H.R. 2282 in the House and S. 1006 in the Senate!
