Statement on the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio
Washington, D.C. – Following the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, JWI CEO Lori Weinstein issued the following statement:
“There are no words, and yet, we are in a time that demands we find our voice. The mass murder of hundreds of men, women, and children - most recently in El Paso and Dayton - devastates families and communities across the country and breaks the hearts of us all. The divisive and hateful rhetoric of our President and the Senate’s failure to enact gun violence prevention policies must lead us, once again, to demand change. We implore the Senate to take action immediately to mandate background checks for all gun sales, ban assault weapons, and make sure no violent person, nor individual in crisis is able to purchase a firearm – their inaction makes them complicit in these massacres.”
