JWI Commends the House for Passing FVPSA 2021
JWI commends the House for passing the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Re-Authorization Act of 2021 (FVPSA; H.R. 2119). FVPSA provides critical support to the more than 1,500 local, public, private, nonprofit, Tribal, and faith-based organizations serving more than 1.3 million survivors of domestic violence and their children. The re-authorized FVPSA prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the provision of services. We appreciate Representative Kathy Manning submitting JWI’s Letter of Support for FVPSA to the Congressional record that affirmed that Jewish values mandate treating all people with dignity and respect and providing all survivors with the services they require.
Jewish Women International (JWI) is the leading Jewish organization working to empower women and girls by ensuring and protecting their physical safety and economic security, promoting and celebrating inter-generational leadership, inspiring civic participation and community engagement, and engaging men as allies in ending gender-based violence. JWI is a Steering Committee member of the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence and convenes the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and the Clergy Task Force on Domestic and Sexual Abuse in the Jewish Community.
