We are deeply disappointed by the Senate’s decision to confirm Justice Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, and by the President’s demeaning and disrespectful comments about Dr. Blasey Ford. Yet we will not be dissuaded from our continued efforts to protect the rights and freedoms of women and girls across our nation. Voting in this upcoming election is critical to ensuring women have access to reproductive choice, safety, and economic equality. Join our voter initiative, “Hear Us Vote” , and make sure you are registered at your current address, you know the candidates running in local and federal elections, and research candidates’ positions and voting records.  

2. #FaithTakesAction in Domestic Violence Awareness Month

All people deserve to live a life free from violence, but in the United States more than 10 million women and men are physically abused by an intimate partner each year. Faith communities across the country serve as a great source of support and healing for victims of domestic violence. On Wednesday, October 10 th , the Interfaith Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence will highlight the ways #FaithTakesAction to eradicate gender-based violence by hosting a panel to discuss how faith groups are educating clergy, facilitating prevention programming, and providing direct services to survivors. 1. Still no Republican support for VAWA

Violence against women is not a partisan issue. The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2018 was introduced in the House of Representatives in July, and still not a single Republican member has signed on to support it. This bill was written with the input of advocates and survivors and provides critical supports to meet the everyday needs of victims. Call your Representative today and tell them to cosponsor H.R. 6545!
