321ACTION: Meet your members of Congress, Protect foreign aid, Support pregnant workers

Ready to make a difference?

Here are three ways to get started:

1. Meet your Members of Congress

Members of Congress from the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are back home, meeting their constituents and taking a break from their work on Capitol Hill.

Now is the perfect time to interact with them face-to-face! Head to your local town halls to hold them accountable for their positions on the issues you care about most – gun violence prevention, gender-based violence, economic security, access to abortion, and reproductive health care.

2. Protect foreign aid

The domestic impact of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is clear, but its impact on women’s access to reproductive health care globally is less obvious.

Last week, a group of senators asked the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) asking the agency to clarify that the Dobbs decision does not impact USAID’s support for “the full range of family planning and reproductive health care services” permitted under law. Since the U.S. is the largest donor of reproductive health and family planning services globally, any changes could dramatically impact women and girls around the world.

3. Support Pregnant Workers

There are finally enough votes to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) in the Senate, but Leader Schumer hasn’t prioritized bringing PWFA to a vote. This legislation would mandate businesses provide vital workplace accommodations to make sure pregnant workers stay healthy.

Use social media to elevate this important bill and ask your Senators to push Sen. Schumer to schedule a vote in September.
