321ACTION: April 8, 2024
Two of the hostages freed from Gaza have publicly shared firsthand accounts of the sexual violence they experienced at the hands of Hamas. On the internet, they have been met with derision, disbelief, and ad hominem attacks. Read JWI’s Senior Director of Strategic Communication’s op-ed in the Forward here.
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Urge your members of Congress to support the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act!
In 2024, the internet is a necessity, not a luxury. Children need internet access to do their homework, adults need internet access for work, and communication with doctors, teachers, government services, and other essential communication is now almost exclusively online. One in six American households relies on the Affordable Connectivity Program to defray the costs of broadband, but this program will run out of funding soon. Click here to contact your members of Congress and tell them to support the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act.
2. Join a Congressional briefing for Sexual Assault Awareness Month online!
The National Alliance to End Sexual Violence will be holding a Congressional briefing for Sexual Assault Awareness Month on April 10 at 3:00 ET. Join the briefing virtually on their Facebook page!
3. Learn more about National Crime Victims' Rights Week!
National Crime Victims' Rights Week will be commemorated April 21-27. Use the Office for Victims of Crime’s resource guide to hold an event in your community!
