321ACTION: December 4, 2023
Ready to make a difference?
Here are three ways to get started:
1. Oppose harmful asylum changes!
In exchange for military aid to Ukraine, some Senators are trying to limit the ability of individuals facing gender-based violence and other forms of persecution to gain asylum in the United States. Click here to send an email to your Senators, urging them to reject any such deal.
2. Urge your Representative to vote NO on HR2601!
The House of Representatives is considering a harmful bill that would limit trafficking victims’ access to confidential services by requiring the National Humane Trafficking Hotline to provide call information to law enforcement without survivor consent. This would both decrease Hotline utilization and put victims and survivors at risk of retaliation. Text PRFUXT to 50409 to tell your Representatives to vote NO on HR2601 or use this toolkit created by leading anti-trafficking organizations to contact your Representative. You can also sign a petition here.
3. Commemorate victims of gun violence!
On Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 PM ET, join JWI online at the annual National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence. To coincide with the National Vigil, the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism has published its annual Gun Violence Prevention Shabbat toolkit, which can be used on December 8 or on a different date if desired to avoid overlapping with Chanukah. Please share the toolkit with your synagogue.
