Will YOUR Senators vote to keep abusers away from guns?

The Senate must act NOW to reduce gun violence in our country. It has been two weeks since Parkland, and not a single piece of gun legislation has come up for a vote in Congress. Even the FixNICS Act of 2017, a bill that enforces already existing law, is being delayed in the Senate.

Call your Senators today and tell them to support S. 2135, the FixNICS Act of 2017.

Background: FixNICS creates new guidelines to enforce states’ responsibility to upload domestic violence records into the federal background check system and allows for money to be withheld from certain political appointees who neglect to upload the information. Passing FixNICS will save lives by increasing the submission of these records to the background check system (NICS).

Tell your Senators: They must support FixNICS as a first step in combatting the epidemic of gun violence in this country.

Sample Phone Script:

“My name is [your name], and I am a concerned constituent from [your location and, if applicable, your organization]. I support S. 2135, the Fix NICS Act of 2017, a bill that would increase the submission of domestic violence records to the NICS background check database. Please urge [Senator] to demand a vote on S.2135. Thank you.”
