IBIW Resources for post 10/7 Events
Today, I Believe Israeli Women hosted a panel discussion on how to ensure that your community events discussing the sexual violence of October 7 are conducted in a way that doesn't re-traumatize survivors in the audience. A recording of the event can be found here.
Please feel free to use and share the accompanying resources created by Jewish Women International’s Clergy Task Force when planning your own events:
A guide to listening to survivors can be viewed here.
Suggested closing rituals for Oct. 7 commemorations can be found here.
You are also encouraged to watch the Screams Before Silence, which documents the sexual violence of October 7. To organize a screening in your community, please email us.
Events about sexual violence can be difficult and triggering for both participants and listeners. Please consider having a mental health counselor available at your community events for people who are feeling overwhelmed.
