SUMMER SERIES 2020: Gender Equity on Campus and in the Workplace

Learn how to promote and advocate for gender equity in school and beyond! Join JWI for resources and knowledge about Title IX policies, talking to your company or boss about gender inequity, and bystander intervention. Gain understanding on the significant overlap between gender inequity and sexual violence, harassment, and stalking. This session is designed to provide you with the tools to identify unhealthy patterns of behavior, define and report harassment, and create a culture of accountability and care in your communities at school and professionally.

Ariella Neckritz is the Senior Manager of Prevention and Training Programs at Jewish Women International. She is responsible for writing JWI’s sexual assault and dating abuse prevention programming, working with campus leaders, training peer facilitators, and delivering workshops for students and staff. For the last four years she has led JWI’s Change the Culture initiative engaging college students involved in Greek life or Hillel communities in sexual assault and dating violence prevention. Under her leadership Change the Culture programming has reached over 3,500 students at more than 20 universities and 10 Hillels. She also oversees JWI’s National Alliance to End Domestic Abuse working with experts to develop and lead online training webinars for professions working in the the domestic violence prevention and response field.

Ariella was the President of George Washington University Students Against Sexual Assault, a peer education, activist, and survivor support organization. Her advocacy efforts at GWU worked to provide trainings to more than 60 student organizations and achieved gains like extensions of the reporting window and mandatory sexual violence prevention and education sessions for all incoming students. She previously served as the Loveisrespect Campus Leadership Intern at the National Domestic Violence Hotline, strengthening materials and programming on dating violence for college students. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University in Women’s Studies and Human Services & Social Justice.

Nicole Nevarez is the inaugural National Director of Ta’amod: Stand Up!, a multi-pronged initiative dedicated to ending gender abuse, harassment and toxic culture in the Jewish communal space. Ta’amod brings this work to the Jewish community with a lens of creating respectful workplace culture rooted in Jewish values. A Jewish educator, trainer and facilitator, Nicole provides independent coaching to individuals and consulting to mission-critical organizations to support efforts to create positive internal culture. Nicole believes that when we do the work to reflect on ourselves and our organizations, we have the power to impact deep systemic change.


 

JWI’s annual series of summer breakfast roundtables gathers D.C. interns and young professionals to discuss current issues unique to young women, and ways they can get involved and make a difference. This year, all of the sessions will be held over Zoom to include as many college-aged women as possible!
