Stalking is a prevalent, dangerous, and often misunderstood crime. This session explores the dynamics of stalking, focusing on the highly contextual nature of the crime by discussing common tactics used by perpetrators and stalking’s co-occurrence with domestic and sexual violence. This training will also provide practical and applicable skills for helping advocates and responders identify the nuance of stalking behaviors when working with a victim of crime.
Presenter Bio
Natalie Ivey (JD) is a Training & Criminal Justice Specialist at the Stalking, Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC), an AEquitas initiative. She works to educate criminal justice systems on effectively responding to stalking. Previously, Natalie served as a prosecutor handling domestic and sexual violence cases and later shifted to improving systemic responses and providing victim services. With extensive experience in community education, coalition-building, and trauma-informed services, she holds a BS in History from Tennessee Tech and a JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Natalie is based in Asheville, NC.
