Elder financial abuse is a "growth industry" of the 21st century, resulting in crimes against hundreds of thousands of the elderly each year. Seniors hold the largest percentage of the nation's wealth, making them prime targets for unethical professionals who sell them unsuitable products.
This webinar will examine the many aspects of elder financial abuse: its victims, perpetrators, and circumstances in which it occurs, and the cost to older Americans by reviewing national research on this area of growing concern. Resources providing support and assistance to victims will be included. This webinar will draw on the Women Institute for Secure Retirement (WISER) and SIFMA’s expertise in retirement and financial abuse to inform participants on how to prevent themselves and their loved ones from becoming victims.
