Jewish families are not immune from domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or dating violence, and each of our communities, organizations, and our nation as a whole, is impacted by these devasting experiences.
The Violence Against Women Act is a landmark piece of legislation which provides critical support, training, and resources needed to address and prevent these crimes. On November 13, Senator Feinstein introduced the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019 a companion to the bipartisan VAWA bill that passed the House of Representatives in April. The bill updates current law with modest yet vital improvements based on the needs identified by direct service providers working directly with victims and survivors.
Sponsored by JWI’s Clergy Task Force on Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse in the Jewish Community, this webinar is designed to help the Jewish community with an understanding of VAWA’s impact, the current status of the legislation, and tools to advocate for the bipartisan Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019.
