SPEAKERS
Rabbi David M. Rosenberg is Coordinator of Jewish Educational Services and Orthodox Community Liaison at JCFS Chicago. He directs the therapeutic Yeshiva program at the agency’s Knapp School & Yeshiva. David co-facilitates the Orthodox Network, a collaboration of social service providers in Jewish agencies, and is active in several pan-agency committees and activities. In August 2018 he received JCFS Chicago’s Ken Jacobson Award for Professional Excellence. David co-chairs the Working with Orthodox Communities interest group at NJHSA. He is co-chair of The Clergy Task Force to End Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community of Jewish Women International.
Rabbi Marla Hornsten came to Temple Israel in July of 2000 after her rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish institute of Religion, having attended both the Los Angeles and New York campuses. Rabbi Marla advocates for women and women’s equality and roots for women every chance she gets! She is also committed to preventing domestic abuse in families and to guiding couples in establishing healthy relationships. To that end, she served as a co-chair for the Clergy Task to End Domestic Violence for Jewish Women International, based out of Washington DC, and on both JCADA (Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse) and the OCCCADV (Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence) locally.
Shoshannah Frydman, PhD, LCSW is the executive director of Shalom Task Force. She was previously the managing director of Family Violence and Social Services at the Met Council and founded their Family Violence Services Program. She has worked in the field of gender-based and family violence in the Jewish community for over 15 years. As a licensed clinical social worker she provides a range of services to diverse survivors of abuse and sex trafficking. Shana is a graduate of University of Maryland School of Social Work and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York/Hunter School of Social Work. She speaks regularly and has published on the subject of intimate partner abuse within the Jewish community.
