JWI’s Theory of Change: Gender-Based Violence

IF WE…

  • Advocate for legislation that protects abuse survivors

  • Offer healthy relationship training directly to students

  • Train and support advocates working with survivors

THEN...

  • Our communities and our country will shift to be survivor-centered and trauma-informed

SO THAT...

  • We will live in a world free of violence and inequity, where all women and girls thrive.

Gender-based violence is a violation of human rights and a public health epidemic.

Whether it’s sexual harassment in the workplace, sexual assault on college campuses, violence by an intimate partner, denial of reproductive choices, gun violence, or rape as a tool of war - JWI is working to effectuate change.

We address it through prevention programming for youth, engaging men and boys as allies, supporting advocates with training and peer forums, providing survivors and their children with comforting havens in shelter and resources to build their long-term economic security, and legislative advocacy and coalition building.
