321ACTION: February 12, 2024

As antisemitism and violence against Jews continue to rise, some American Jews have considered buying a gun. What do individuals, families, and communities need to know when considering gun ownership?

A panel of experts — including security and gun violence solutions experts, federal law enforcement, and a rabbi— will help us understand the complex decision to buy a gun, as well as best practices to promote safety, what it means to be a responsible gun owner, and how to minimize the risks to children and others from unsecured weapons. Mark your calendars with this important conversation by and for the Jewish community, to be held on Sunday, February 25 at 4:00 ET. An invitation will be forthcoming.

This conversation is sponsored by the Jewish Gun Violence Prevention Roundtable.

Ready to make a difference?

Here are three ways to get started:

1. Tell Congress not to cut funding for victim services!

Congress is planning to cut Victims of Crime Act victim services grants by 41%! This will devastate local domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, child advocacy centers, and other victim services. Click here to send your members of Congress an email highlighting the need to fund VOCA. Then click here to share on Twitter.

2. Tell your Representative to condemn Hamas's sexual violence against women in Israel and conflict-related sexual violence worldwide!

Congress must condemn in the strongest terms the atrocities committed by Hamas against women in Israel on October 7. Click here to email your Representative and ask them to vote yes on Congresswoman Frankel’s resolution condemning conflict-related sexual violence.

3. Sign a petition to hold creators of harmful deepfake images accountable!

Deepfake images and videos use artificial learning to create videos and images of events that never happened. This includes creating explicit images and videos of women, children, and others, as well as creating images and videos supporting disinformation campaigns. Click here to sign a petition by UltraViolet, calling on Congress to pass the DEFIANCE Act to hold creators of harmful deepfake images accountable.
