321ACTION: January 8, 2024

Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and thirty-two colleagues sent a letter to United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, expressing their disappointment with the UN’s response to Hamas’s use of sexual violence against Israeli women and calling on the UN to establish a fact-finding effort independent from the Commission of Inquiry on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Read their letter here.

Ready to make a difference?

Here are three ways to get started:

1. Share this sign-on letter with your faith community and faith-based organizations to prevent catastrophic cuts to federal victim service grants!

Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grants, the primary source of federal funding for victim services, are expected to be cut by $700 million (41%) next year. This would be nothing short of catastrophic for victims and survivors who rely on these services. Encourage your congregation or faith community or any faith-based organizations with which you are associated to complete this form to sign a letter to Congress, urging them not to cut VOCA grants

2. Urge your Senators to cosponsor Senate Resolution 505, condemning Hamas's use of sexual violence!

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) introduced Senate Resolution 505 to condemn Hamas’s perpetration of sexual violence against women in Israel. Click here to send an email to your Senators, urging them to co-sponsor this resolution.

3. Join the WIC Day of Action on January 10!

Funding for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is running out! WIC is a critical source of food assistance for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women; infants; and children up to the age of five. Without additional funding, WIC will not be able to provide assistance to everyone who needs it. Use this toolkit to contact your members of Congress on January 10th's WIC Day of Action and urge them to fully fund WIC. Then, use this portal from our allies at MomsRising to automatically submit a letter to the editor to your local newspaper to raise awareness about this critical issue.
